WNCN names Derek Rowles news director
Derek Rowles was named news director for the Raleigh CBS affiliate WNCN.

As Deputy Chief Information Officer, he made an immediate impact with his in-depth market knowledge and strategic vision. He knows and cares about the people who live here. Having Derek as our news director helps CBS 17 move into the future with a leader who is dedicated to the local news that matters to all of our viewers,” said the vice president and general manager. John Lewis.
Rowles began working at WNCN as assistant news director in December 2023 after spending more than 23 years at Raleigh-Durham ABC affiliate WTVD. During his time there, he served as producer, executive producer and assistant news director.

He officially takes up his new position on December 23, 2024.
