Ty Steele will host the evenings at WDIV in Detroit

Ty Steele will join Detroit NBC affiliate WDIV as presenter of the television news on the 5, 6 and 11 p.m. stations.

Steele will work alongside Kimberly Gil, Kim AdamsAnd Hobie Artigue from December 16. He will replace longtime WDIV anchor Devin Scillianwho announced his retirement after 30 years.

“When Devin told us he was planning to retire, we knew we had to find someone who understood the courage it takes to succeed here, and someone who celebrates the hard-working mentality we have all in southeast Michigan. When we got to know Ty, we immediately knew he was a true Detroiter at heart,” said WDIV Vice President and General Manager. Bob Ellis.

Steele has reported at the station since October. Prior to that, he worked at KCRA in Sacramento, California.

“Ty’s passion for storytelling and dedication to connecting with audiences have had a lasting impact throughout his career,” said WDIV News Director. Jennifer Wallace said. “We are confident that his warmth, professionalism and commitment to journalism and the community will resonate deeply with our team and the Detroit community as he begins this exciting new chapter with us.”
