Top of ticker: After five years anchoring the CBS Evening News, Sarah O’Donnell opened the Eye Network newscast for the final time on Thursday. “It has been an honor of a lifetime to host this legacy show,” she said near the end of the show, adding, “From the bottom of my heart, thank you for trusting us and welcome difficult news with heart.”
O’Donnell is not leaving CBS News, but rather taking on a broader role as the main correspondent of the network focusing on long-form reporting and interviews. Meanwhile, the new Evening News team begins on January 27, with the triumvirate of John Dickerson And Maurice DuBois in New York and Marguerite Brennan from Washington DC
