Social media speculates after WRC presenter Leon Harris stumbles on TV news
WRC anchor Leon Harris made news after leaving the Washington, D.C.-owned NBC station’s Thanksgiving evening broadcast early.
A clip posted on X showed Harris stumbling through scripts and speaking incoherently during the first seven minutes of the newscast.
A quick eye check showed the station went into an extended commercial break around 6:07 p.m., then ended the newscast with a lengthy forecast from the meteorologist. Ryan Miller with what looked like a pre-recorded commercial segment.
“We’ve heard a lot from some of you over the phone and through email during this newscast,” Miller told viewers after his extended tap. “We want to assure you that our colleague Leon Harris is doing well. news for the team appreciate your concern and we will see you back here at 7:30.
Harris joined WRC in 2017 after more than 20 years as an anchor at CNN.
Some social media users said they thought Harris may be drunk. He served prison time in 2022 after driving under the influence, crashing into a car and trying to flee the scene.
NBC told us they have “nothing to share on this at this time.”
