KTLA reporter John Fenoglio steps in to put out house fire

KTLA journalist John Fenoglio was reporting live from the Eaton Fire in Altadena, Calif., Tuesday evening as he attempted to help put out flames that had spread to a home.

The station said Fenoglio is a former paramedic and volunteer firefighter who

“It looks like the back of his house is hanging [fire]” Fenoglio said as he drove through a wildfire-ravaged neighborhood, with embers spreading the fire from house to house.

He picked up a garden hose, turned the faucet on and walked to the side of the house to put out two burning areas.

“You see these structures light up very quickly. If there’s a garden hose here, Fenoglio told the audience, that’s obviously not our job, but you try to help when you can.

KTLA said it was unclear whether the house remained intact after the live report.

THE Eaton Fire erupted Tuesday evening amid strong Santa Ana winds and charred more than 10,000 acres Wednesday afternoon. Dozens, if not hundreds, of homes were destroyed. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
