Ticker: CNN settles Zachary Young defamation case
Top of ticker: CNN has been found liable by a Florida jury in its defamation case brought by a Navy veteran. Zachary Young. Young had accused the network of inflicting financial harm due to his face being displayed on screen alongside a November 2021 article discussing a “black market” that was smuggling Afghan citizens out of the country for high fees before the Taliban took them out take control.
CNN was to pay $5 million in damages for defamation, but reached an undisclosed settlement with Young. “We remain proud of our journalists and are 100% committed to providing strong, fearless and fair reporting at CNN, although we will of course learn every useful lesson we can from this matter,” a spokesperson said. from CNN to TVNewser.

Mary Bruce will continue in her role as chief White House correspondent, joined by Rachel Scottwho is promoted to senior political correspondent for the White House and Congress. Family matters: Wednesday, NBC News anchor and correspondent Sheinelle Jones has broken his silence regarding his extended absence from the Today show. In an Instagram post, Jones — who hasn’t appeared on the morning show since Dec. 18 — said she had “taken time to sort out a family matter.” The update was shared by colleagues today Savannah Guthrie And Craig Melvin who wishes him good luck.
