Robert Johnson will join WCAU in Philadelphia as weekday meteorologist
Meteorologist Robert Johnson will join Philadelphia-owned station NBC (WCAU) NBC10’s First Weather Alert Team. The Philadelphia native starts Monday, January 20.
“We are thrilled that Robert is joining NBC10 and returning to his hometown of Philadelphia,” said Elisabeth Florèsvice president of news for NBC10 and Telemundo62. “His commitment to providing accurate and engaging weather coverage makes him a great addition to the First Alert weather team.” Having grown up in our area, Robert has a unique understanding of our community and the weather conditions that impact the Greater Philadelphia area.
Johnson just WTVD in Raleigh, North Carolina, where he was a weekend meteorologist for nearly five years. Prior to that, he interned in the news and weather department at WPVI in Philadelphia and also interned in the weather department at WTXF in Philadelphia.
“I’m excited to join the NBC10 First Alert weather team and get back to work forecasting the weather in my hometown,” Johnson said. “When it comes to weather, the Philadelphia area has it all: four seasons and varying microclimates, such as the city, the suburbs, the Jersey Shore/Delaware beaches, Lehigh Valley and the Poconos. This can make for difficult predictions, but it keeps you on your toes.
