Lyn Plantinga named Scripps senior vice president of local media operations

EW Scripps promoted Lyn Plantinga as Senior Vice President of Local Media, effective immediately.

Plantinga will lead local media operations, overseeing Scripps’ team of regional vice presidents, while serving as general manager of WTVF, Nashville’s local CBS affiliate and Scripps-owned television station.

She served as regional vice president and general manager last year, overseeing Scripps’ local television stations in Nashville, Lexington, Cleveland, Buffalo and Cincinnati.

“Lyn is a seasoned local media leader, committed to operational excellence, strong financial performance and leading teams to deliver quality, objective journalism,” said Dean Littletonexecutive vice president of media broadcast operations. “This new role will allow him to work closely with all local Scripps stations, our employees and the communities Scripps serves.”

Plantinga got his start in television as an intern at WTVF more than 30 years ago. She held several leadership positions at the station, including deputy news director, national sales director and station manager, before being named vice president and general manager of the station in 2015.

Plantinga serves on the boards of the Scripps Howard Fund and the General Hospital Foundation, where she is past board chair. She is past chair of the board of directors of the Tennessee Association of Broadcasters, past chair of the press committee of the CBS Affiliates Board and has held leadership positions on the board of directors of Second Harvest Food Bank, Adventure Science Center and Leadership Nashville.
