Fox Super Bowl Special reunites Bill Belichick and Tom Brady

Bill Belichick and Tom Brady meet for a Super Bowl, and the presence of Michael Strahan will not spoil the evening, for once.

Strahan’s SMAC Entertainment is teaming up with Fox Sports Films, BZ Entertainment and NFL Films for a pre-Super Bowl special, “The Madden Cruiser: A Bayou Adventure With Bill Belichick.”

Airing at 12 p.m. ET before Fox’s Super Bowl 59 broadcast, the special follows the famous (and newly minted) NFL coach University of North Carolina leader) as he takes broadcaster and coach John Madden’s namesake bus through Louisiana before heading to New Orleans for the Big Game.

Brady and Belichick won their first Super Bowl together in New Orleans in 2001 with a comeback victory against the St. Louis Rams in Super Bowl 37.

But the two haven’t worked together in a professional capacity since Brady, then a quarterback, left coach Belichick’s New England Patriots in 2018 after 17 seasons and six Super Bowl titles together.

Meanwhile, the two haven’t spent a Super Bowl with Strahan since the New York Giants ended the Patriots’ attempt at an undefeated season by winning Super Bowl 42.

Now with Fox Sports, Strahan makes it up to new broadcast colleague Brady by hosting him and fellow broadcaster Curt Menefee on Belichick’s tour of Louisiana football, food and familiar faces.

Other guests along the way include:

Ed Reed: The Hall of Fame safety who grew up in New Orleans and won a Super Bowl with the Baltimore Ravens during the game’s final stop at the city’s Superdome in 2013… when the lights went out Ty law: Hall of Fame cornerback who won three Super Bowls (2002, 2004, 2005) with Brady and Belichick’s Patriots and appeared in two Super Bowls (1997 and 2002) in New Orleans. Archie Manning: A two-time Pro Bowler and New Orleans Saints Hall of Fame inductee who released his sons Peyton and Eli onto the world Tyrann Mathieu: Known to some as “The Honey Badger,” the New Orleans high school star and safety for the New Orleans Saints returns to his high school to give a pregame speech to his football team . Rocsi Diaz: The Emmy Award-winning host, model, actress and New Orleans native revisits the city’s Ninth Ward nearly 20 years after Hurricane Katrina.

“Being able to bring these incredible sports legends and personalities together for this special creates the perfect setting for our presentation of Super Bowl LIX,” said Barry Nugent, vice president of development and original programming for Fox Sports.
